Malem: Deceit by Perversion

Malem bedwetting alarm has such an overabundance of deception by perversion (hype, exaggerations, and misapplication of facts) and deception by concealment (not providing relevant facts) that they may provide many entries for this blog.

"
Our #1 Recommended Alarm."

Whose number one alarm is this? The reader is intentionally mislead to believe tha this is Amazon’s number one alarm when it isn’t. Number one from what angle? Price, functionality, user experience, sales?

"
New and improved, this alarm combines light, sound and vibration to help even the deepest sleeper wake."

As an enuresis alarm, we hope that the above statement will be true. Can you guarantee that all deep sleepers will wake up to your alarm?

"
Alarm box is backed by a 1 year warranty. CE Mark and FDA registered."

The Malem bedwetting alarm is exclusively sold by the Bedwetting Store in USA. Nearly all alarms have a CE mark and are registered with the FDA. It is not unique or special for Malem, and applies to every bedwetting alarm whose facility is registered with the FDA. Bedwetting Store, the distributor of Malem, fills out a simple FDA form every year, lists Malem on it, and pays a registration fee to the FDA. That’s it. The FDA in no way tests or certifies or even looks at Malem for it to be registered with the FDA. This is a Facility registration, and all enuresis alarms sold in the U.S. from U.S. sales locations must have their facilities registered with the FDA. Again, lots of hype.

"CE Mark."

CE is a test for the European Union, and is rarely used unless electric voltages are high enough to cause possible injury (say 120V or 240V AC). It also includes the EU equivalent of the U.S. FCC radio frequency test. Such a certification, the U.S. equivalents being the UL or ETL certifications, and the FCC certification, are rarely bothered with for small battery powered devices that are not involved with wireless in any sense, and usually unnecessary. For all practical purposes, mentioning this CE certification is for advertising hype and nothing else.

"Used in clinical studies."

There is not one report on the Amazon description that lists clinical studies performed using Malem or other bedwetting alarms sold by the Bedwetting Store. This is of significance to the reader and purchaser and Malem and the Bedwetting Store do a good job of tricking the consumer through deceit.

So Malem has one complete page of hype to try and create a great impression on the "naïve" reader who may not understand the significance or value of the words used on this page.

To truly compare Malem with all relevant competitors in today’s marketplace, look at http://www.urinealarms.com/Wired_Alarm_Chart.html . This is the most comprehensive set of data and facts about bedwetting alarms that we have seen. Malem does not fare well. This explains why Malem and the Bedwetting Store resort to deceit and propaganda to promote the Malem bedwetting alarm!

The Bedwetting Store is the only seller who advertises and continues to sell the Malem Bedwetting Alarm. All other sellers have either realized the truth about the Malem Bedwetting Alarm or have abandoned it, but the Bedwetting Store continues its deceit.
